Recordings finished!

Hey Folks,

we´ve done it! Our third album is recorded, including mixing and mastering. And we are really proud of the result – we think it´s amazing. Our feeling is, that everyone of us has developed as well as the band together. Nevertheless we are still Midnattsol.

We had an awesome time in Studio E and want to thank Markus Stock for his great work – also as a producer for us.

But there are still thousands of things to do, until the CD will be released. In the next time, we will work on the cover and artwork for the CD. Of course we will keep you informed about the process.

And to shorten the time you have to wait, here is a small video of Carmen´s recordings for you. And for more information – once again the link to our studio report.

Recording of the instruments finished

Hey Folks,

after four days drum-, 6 days guitar-, two days bass- and three days keyboard recordings as well as five bottles of Jim Beam, three of Jack Daniels, a few beers, a little Uzo, some wine and a lot of sweat and effort, as well as joy and fun, we finally made it – the instruments are all recorded and a raw mix is allready done.

We are absolutely excited about the sound of our songs even now and we are looking forward to work on the vocals with Carmen in the coming weeks.

Midnattsol will enter the studio

Hi Folks,

after we have spent lots of time in our new rehearsal room during the last month, the time has come – WE WILL ENTER THE STUDIO!

We can justly claim that we have never worked so intensively on our material and also the work with our new guitarist Alex was like a rejuvenation for us. Thus we are extremely looking forward to record the songs now!

As we had been very satisfied with the recordings of “Nordlys” at Studio E, we have decided for the third album not only to let the recordings do by such an experienced producer as Markus Stock from Studio E (e.g. The Vision Bleak, Lacrimas Profundere, Secrets of the Moon and Dornenreich), but also the mixing and mastering.

The best news is however: The recordings will already begin May 24th 2010 and with a short interruption we will be in the studio until July.

Of course we will keep you informed about further information regarding the new album and the release date.

New guitarists 

Hi Folks,

In the last months we have been searching for a new guitarist, and we were thrilled to see that so many of you were interested and sent us your applications for this position! Due to the fact that there were so many great applications, it took a while to make the right choices, so sorry for the waiting guys!

Because of numerous good applicants, please don´t send anymore your applications. Furthermore we have practiced a while with one of the new guitarists an we are hooked that he has learned our "old" songs very rapidly and we have been able to write a couple of songs together as well. In addition he is a very nice guy so we are happy that he will go to the Metal Female Voices Fest with us and we can play there in complete cast.

So, for everyone of you who likes to know more about him - come to the Metal Female Voices Fest. We think that he will make there his baptism of fire and we will put him into the Midnattsol familiy.

Fabz leaves Midnattsol

Recently we told you the happy news, that our guitarist Fabz became father of a little son. Such events always also bring some changes in life, thus Fabz decided to concentrate increasingly on his family and his new job. Unfortunately this also means that Fabz won’t be able to play at Midnattsol any longer. We can understand his decision very well and wish him all the best and good luck for the future!

Thus it also means for us now:

Midnattsol search for a new guitarist!

To complete the line-up and blast off again we are searching for a band experienced and creative guitarist. Do you already have live experience, are you motivated and ready for headbanging? Then please write to newguitarist@midnattsol.com and give us a short description about yourself (if possible with a picture) and what you have musically done so far.

What you can expect at us? A record deal, a rehearsal room at Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, festivals and tours and of course us, a bunch of Midnattsols that like to party. We are currently writing songs for our third album and would be happy if you immediately join us with this and at the forthcoming Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium. Musicians from Ludwigsburg / Stuttgart and the greater region will be preferred.

New Forum

Hi Folks,

We have announced some time ago, that we had many problems concerning our forum. For some time, nobody could sign up for the forum anymore.

It took us a good while, with lots of coffee, alcohol and nervous breakdowns until we finally achieved our aim. With a lot of kind help, we now proudly present our updated forum. You will see the effect of our work immediately, because of a great new look.

There is only one small problem left - all allready signed up users could have password-problems. So if you cannot log in, please use the "I forgot my password" function. If this does not work, write an E-Mail with your username to
one of the Admins. They will send you as fast as possible a new one.

So - all of you, who are not on the Midnattso-forum yet - it´s up to you to make it interesting again.

A good reason for bad news!

You might probably know it already: we cannot play at the Ragnarök Festival this year. But we have a wonderful reason for this. Midnattsol will soon have a new member. In fact, Fabz becomes a daddy soon. And because he does not want to miss the birth of his child, he cannot travel this far for the next weeks, of course! 

But there are also some other news in the Midnattsol world: we have a new band room and we are looking forward to work there on our next album.

Sadly we have to inform you, that the promoter of Secrets of Soest has cancelled the festival on 13.06.2009, so that we won´t be able to see you there. Too bad.... 

But maybe it will be some comfort for you, that you can find an interview with Midnattsol, that was made on the last Summerbreeze festival, on the website of Carpe Noctem (at least for all of you, who haven´t seen it until now).

- The Midnattsol-concert on 25.01.2009 at Uden BE / Club: De Pul was moved to Kerkrade (NL) The Rock Temple 

- Here is a new information about the concert on 13.06.2009 at Soest. At the „Secrets of Soest Festival“ Midnattsol will share the stage among others with „Tyr“ and „Alestorm“. You will find more information here.
 
- Lately the Midnattsol-Fans have the opportunity to buy the Japan-release of the Limited Edition of Nordlys on ebay on the german site of Amazon.

Female Voices Fest gig cancelled

We apologize to all of you, who would have liked to see us playing at the Female Voices Fest, for the cancelled gig. We ourselves are absolutely sad, that we couldn’t perform anymore. We will try our best, that in the future no higher forces, in this case a complete motorway block, will keep us from doing what we like most: to rock for you on stage!

Despite all this we want to thank all of you, who have been there and had a chat with us, for the great support. You are amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

New Endorsement

We  are proud to announce a new alliance between our  drummer Chris and the German ROHEMA PERCUSSION company. Chris got his own signature stick. He is looking forward to the work between Rohema and him. Chris can`t wait to birch the new songs of Nordlys with his new signature sticks.













Furthermor Chris will play the Ludwigsburger Trommeltage event for the 3.rd time. He plays on Sunday 12.10.2008 on the mainstage. Besides Chris, there are playing drumheroes as Mike Terrana (Tarja / Masterplan / Ex-Rage) and Marcel Bach (Ex-Samsas Traum). Our drummer will play exclusively news songs from the current album Nordlys.

Hallo Folks,

It is a great pleasure for us to announce that we have finally found a new guitarist for Midnattsol. We have been having a good feeling about it for a while now, but latest after our gig on the Summer Breeze Festival it was clear:

We are sure that Fabian is the right new guitarist for Midnattsol, he certainly gives the band a lot through his amazing musical skills and his cheerful personality.

Forum Update

Hi Folks,

a few of you will already recognized it: At the moment we are not able to get new forumuser into the Midnattsolforum (it was our only method to avoid a scores of spam robots entering our forum). Because of this we will update our forum next weekend (first weekend at September). We hope everything is going to be allright, but to have security we ask all forumuser to save all your important facts an private messages. 

New song online

We have another song from our new album Nordlys online. It was a hard decision which song we want to introduce you and maybe it was the anticipation to the Summer Breeze Festival who brougth us to the decision. It is another song in norwegian language and it really rocks! So go to the audio section an listen to Skogens Lengsel!

We are really glad that so many people are interested to become a part of Midnattsol as our new guitarist. Thanks to everybody who applied for this position! But because of the huge amount of interested guitarists, we did not make it to look through all the applications so far. For this reason we will be supported by Fabian Pospiech (Respawn Inc./ R:I:P) on the next Summer Breeze Festival 08.



So far the rehearsals have been succesfully and the whole band can`t wait to present their new songs live. MIDNATTSOL will play the 15th August 2008 at the PAIN STAGE from 12:05 am to 12:35 am.

On the same day, there are also two signing sessions of MIDNATTSOL at the Summer Breeze Festival 2008.

Christian Hector leaves Midnattsol

Hello Midnattsol folks,

three days ago we got a bad message. Our guitarist Christian Hector has decided to leave Midnattsol. Christian describes the reasons for this step in the following statement:

Ahoi Midnattfolks,

it's been some years since Carmen and me started out forming Midnattsol. Now it's time for me to move on and experience new musical directions. My decision is due to the musical development of the band, the lack of time for family and friends and last but not least my second band AHAB. I'd like to focus on the work along with my dear friend Daniel Droste and Cornelius Althammer. Nonetheless, I still call everyone in Midnattsol my dearest friends, too! And I guess we'll have too much beer together again quite soon ;-).
So - as you see - this decision is not born from quarrels, controversy or dispute with Chris, Birgit, Carmen, and the two Daniels. It's just, my musical way will be a different one, now.
I enjoyed being part of this for the last five years and I guess, I'll probably join one or the other of Midnattsol for some other musical projects in the future. May it be folk, rock, metal or whatever. We'll see.
I wish Midnattsol good luck with NORDLYS and the best for their further career.

We really regret his leaving of the band after 6 common Midnattsol-years. It was a great time and we have gone through many ups and downs together. Without him Midnattsol surely would not have gone the way where we are today – for this reason we have prepared a slideshow with some of the nicest scenes of Christian`s time at Midnattsol. Thank you very much for the wonderful time and all the best for the future!!
